Roasted asparagus anyone? Yes please! Why you ask? Because asparagus is not only delicious it's good for you. Here's why...
Asparagus
1- can detoxify your system
2 - has anti-aging functions
3 - is considered an aphrodisiac
4 - can protect against cancer
5 - reduces pain and inflammation
6 - can prevent osteoporosis
7 - reduces the risk of heart disease
8 - can help prevent birth defects
So there you have it ladies please eat your vegetables, especially asparagus!
Here's the line up: paprika, Trader Joe's canola oil spray, sea salt, black pepper, and a lemon. The cutting board is an EcoSmart ploy-flax cutting board, made of 100% recycled plastic and flax husk. Available at Home Goods.
Choose organic vegetables when ever possible! It reduces your exposure to harmful pesticides and herbicides, and has higher levels of nutrients than conventionally farmed foods.
First rinse your asparagus.
Then cut about an inch off the ends.
Spray your oil on pan, then on top of the asparagus. I use canola oil because of the high concentration of omega 3's.
Squeeze lemon over the asparagus.
Add sea salt, black pepper and paprika for taste and color! I set the oven for 400 degrees for 11 minutes.
Add some organic brown rice as a healthy side. Brown rice is rich in selenium and high in manganese. Full of fiber and has antioxidants too! I love this Organics, organic brown basmati rice. I've tried a lot of brown rice this one is my ultimate favorite. You can get it at Safeway.
Some wild grilled Mahi Mahi, rich in omega 3 fatty acids, selenium and B-complex vitamins. It's a low-calorie, low-fat source of protein.
Of course this glamourous dinner wouldn't be complete with out a glass of wine. Full of antioxidants and resveratrol. The wine glass is hand blown crackle glass from Pier One. My favorite wine ever is the Cupcake Red Velvet on the left which has a sweeter taste than traditional red wines. My second favorite is on the right and is local from Lodi, CA, called OZV and it's amazing!
