Came home from work to this on my door step. My CSA delivers it on the 1st and 15th of every month and it is only 30 bucks a month! Its called Rancho Piccolo Organic. I love that they deliver it to my door and every time it's different things that force me to branch out and find ways to cook it. It's sort of like Christmas every time I come home to one of these presents on my door step. I get excited because I never know what's in store.
Every time I open my delivery it contains a beautiful array of all the colors from a rainbow! They also send with it a paper called Rancho Piccolo CSA Notes and it gives you recipes for some of the vegetables in the box. There are lots of CSA's to choose from but I try to eat organic as much as possible so I just googled CSA organic and randomly found Rancho Piccolo. I like that they are in Atwater, CA which is close to me. They are a phenomenal company and I would recommend them to anyone interested in local organic produce or if your just trying to eat healthier!
Eden Organic Red Quinoa is the quinoa that I had to order off Amazon because I couldn't find it in town. I love this stuff! It's a good alternative to oatmeal. Here's a little more information on this amazing food:
A recently rediscovered ancient "grain" native to South America, quinoa was once called "the gold of the Incas," who recognized its value in increasing the stamina of their warriors. Not only is quinoa high in protein, but the protein it supplies iscomplete protein, meaning that it includes all nine essential amino acids. Not only is quinoa's amino acid profile well balanced, making it a good choice for vegans concerned about adequate protein intake, but quinoa is especially well-endowed with the amino acid lysine, which is essential for tissue growth and repair. In addition to protein, quinoa features a host of other health-building nutrients. Because quinoa is a very good source of manganese as well as a good source of magnesium, folate, and phosphorus, this "grain" may be especially valuable for persons with migraine headaches, diabetes and atherosclerosis.
My new golden retriever named Bailey!

New line from L'oreal that caught my attention, its called Eversleek and it is sulfate-free. For those of you who dont know what sulfates are here's some information: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) is a relatively inexpensive, yet rather powerful, grease cutting detergent that also aids in the foaming nature of soap. It's been used in all kinds of soap products from your shampoo and facial cleansers to heavy degreasing agents used on mechanic's shop floors. So, in relatively simple terms, SLS is used to make soap "soapy" (which we like because we are accustomed to associating bubbles with clean) and it cuts and removes oil effectively. There seems to be conflicting data that claim sodium lauryl sulfate can also cause cancer, immune system damage, and damage to the skin. In addition, and the primary reason that I'm not a fan of SLS, is that SLS has been known to be damaging to the hair follicle. Damaged hair follicles can lead to weakened hair structure and diminished hair growth. Eek!
My newest cookbook, Vegan Cooking For Carnivores by Roberto Martin. I ordered it from HERE. Martin is Ellen Degeneres and Portia De Rossi's personal vegan chef and his recipes are awesome! If you YouTube him you can find some great videos on his recipes.
I recently made this recipe from his book and it was sooo good! I made the quinoa and then added frozen berries from the freezer. It was a good a change from oatmeal with a lot lighter feeling to it.
